WHY RAW

Because it’s the right thing to do

When you make the decision to bring a dog, cat, ferret, parrot — or even an ant farm — into your life, you take on a moral responsibility: to give that animal the best care possible. That includes educating yourself on what “the best” truly means.

Your new companion could be with you for many years, bringing joy, love, and unforgettable moments. But how long and how well they thrive may depend on one key factor: nutrition.

We all understand this when it comes to our kids — you wouldn’t feed a child chicken nuggets for every meal, every day, for the rest of their life. So why would we do that to our pets?

That bargain-bin 50lb bag of food for $18 might seem convenient, but ask yourself:
Is that really the right thing to do?
Of course not.

Those dry, compressed kibble nuggets aren’t designed for your pet to thrive — they’re made for them to simply survive.

So why do we keep feeding them that way?
That’s a great question. And one worth exploring.

Don’t Be Fooled by the Bag

It’s easy to be misled by the shiny, colorful bags lining the shelves of your local pet store. They look trustworthy. They promise “complete and balanced” nutrition. But the truth is — most of them are anything but healthy.

Sure, some brands are better than others. But even the so-called "premium" kibble often contains ingredients you can’t pronounce — and wouldn’t feed to your family, let alone your pet.

Take a closer look at the label.
Ever wonder how kibble can sit on a shelf for 25 years and still be considered “food”? That’s not natural — that’s chemistry.

The truth is, kibble is cheap to make, convenient to sell, and extremely profitable for the massive corporations behind it.

So ask yourself:
Do you really believe those companies have your pet’s best interest in mind?

Let me answer that for you:
No. They don’t.

But Doesn’t My Vet Know Best?

They might — but here’s the truth: most veterinarians receive very little education in nutrition during their training. Their primary role is to diagnose and treat illness, injury, and disease — not to build optimal, species-appropriate diets.

It’s no different than human medicine:
If you asked your doctor for detailed nutritional guidance, they'd likely refer you to a nutritionist or dietitian, someone who specializes in that field. Makes sense, right?

To be clear, we have immense respect for veterinarians. They are highly educated professionals who do incredible work treating sick and injured animals. That’s what they’re trained to do — and they do it well.

But when it comes to nutrition — especially raw, biologically appropriate nutrition — it’s okay (and often necessary) to seek knowledge beyond the exam room.

Why Raw? Because It's What Nature Intended.

If you’ve read this far, it means you're curious — and that’s a great start!

So let’s begin with a simple question:
Why raw?

The answer is rooted in biology. Your dog or cat is a carnivore, sharing over 99% of their DNA with their wild ancestors. Feeding them a species-appropriate diet — one based on meat, organs, and bones — isn’t a trend. It’s what nature intended.

Just look at their bodies:

  • Sharp teeth and claws designed to tear flesh, not chew plants.

  • Short, acidic digestive tracts optimized for processing raw meat — not grains or fillers.

Let’s break it down:

  • Cats are obligate carnivores — they can only digest meat, organ, and bone. Fruits, vegetables, and grains? Completely unnecessary, and in many cases, harmful.

  • Dogs, though also carnivores, can handle very small amounts of select fruits and vegetables. These can provide added nutrients when used properly — but meat should always be the foundation of their diet.

And no, you don’t need synthetic supplements if your ingredients are high quality and properly balanced. That’s where we come in.

Yes, raw feeding can seem overwhelming at first — but it doesn’t have to be.
